Lauren Burke

Lauren was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and moved to Wilmington, NC in January of 2017 after googling "East Coast Beach Towns with Low Cost of Living".  

 

Her love language is coffee shops. She loves trying new ones, meeting up in them and exploring them in new cities.  She grew up in a volleyball family and has played most of her life. She has coached girl’s volleyball for the last 16 years. If not at home and the sun is out you can find her on the beach with a book or hiking with her partner and 3 dogs. 

 

Lauren came to yoga through a volleyball injury. She sprained her ankle (one of many and by far the worst) when she was in her early 20's.  After trying a nearby Bikram inspired studio she was immediately hooked.  The heat, the focus, the breathing.  She would leave feeling energized from the classes and the sweat dripping off was a kind that felt clean and loving. In July of 2016 Lauren connected with a friend from college who happened to own a yoga studio (Big Power Yoga Houston).  Lauren took her first Baptiste class on the 4th of July at BIG, and quite frankly, she thought she was going to die.  Surprisingly, she left feeling something completely new.  Invigorated, joyful and very, very, very sweaty.  After that class she knew Baptiste yoga was home base for her practice. In July of 2017, Lauren completed a 200 hour RYT training through an immersion program in Panama with Big Power Yoga.  

 

200 HR RYT (2017), a certified Lightyear Leadership Coach, Certified Integrated Life Coach, 95 Hour Kids Yoga Certification, 16 years as a volleyball coach. You may have seen her around Wilmington at Terra Sol Sanctuary, Crossfit Wilmington, coaching many volleyball teams or leading ILM community classes.
